Synopsis:

The US administration imposed trade sanctions on China before Covid-19 to stifle its economic growth, then it accused the Chinese Communist Party of being responsible for the Covid-19 pandemic global outbreak and talks of seeking compensation. China was also accused of conducting the biggest – illegal – transfer of value in history via hacking and plundering of IP to shortcut research and build replica alternatives to US products and services.

China in turn accuses the US of presiding over a corrupt, rigged system, built for its own benefit, in which it controls the banking system and the internet, bullies others who won’t sign up to its foreign policy positions with trade and economic sanctions, leverages a global world order and world trade system designed to promote its own free-market economy model yet seeks to restrict other governments from acquiring Chinese high tech and defence capabilities that compete and rival its own.

Recently, the UK government did a U turn with its decision to drop Huawei’s 5G tech while acknowledging that the lack of alternatives has undermined its own resilience by depending on one supplier. This demonstrates the US effective ability to promote internationally Huawei’s 5G national strategic security risks narrative while it exercises its political and economic influence on foreign governments to follow suit in order to serve the US political, economic, and special interests.

Meanwhile, the US adopted new laws to force foreign governments to boycott Chinese tech companies like Huawei if they wish to continue to do business while its GDP shrank at an annual rate of 32.9 percent due to Covid-19 according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis. In turn. China adopted a new security law on Hong Kong and launched major trials of its state-run digital currency which is expected to go international.

As these two titan empires battle it out to dominate the 21st century to advance their institutions, models, value systems and power, how will this impact world and individual governments, corporations and peoples’ lives and livelihoods?

How will this impact the many sectors such as Telecom, Critical National Infrastructure, IOT, Smart Environments, Cloud, Transport, Maritime & Shipping, Cyber Security, Aviation, Banking, financial services, Investment Funds, and many others?

Will new and unprecedented geopolitical events, Geo-Poli-Cyber attacks and consequences get unleashed?

Will this diminish the relevance and roles of international treaties and organizations like the UN, WHO, ITU and others?

As the largest economic trading bloc in the world, will the European Union fail the leadership test, again, as its initial Covid-19 response and support to its member states showcased? Will it buckle at the knees when the US bear roars next? Or can it rise to the occasion, in its current state, after being diminished by Brexit?

What unprecedented new risks, challenges, and opportunities will this cause and create?

The MLi Group and Survivability News are organizing this Virtual Round Table as part of their Thought Leadership Series. VIPs and guests will observe and engage as expert panelists factor the above to try to answer and debate these and other questions.

What Are
Geo-Poli-
Cyber™ Risks?

What Is Geo-Poli-Cyber™?

MLi Group created the terms Poli-Cyber™ and Geo-Poli-Cyber™ (GPC™) in 2012 and 2013 based on the philosophy that if you cannot identify and name the threat, you cannot mitigate that threat.

Geo-Poli-Cyber™ attacks are political, ideological, terrorist, extremist, ‘religious’, and/or geo-politically motivated.

More Sinister Than Financial Motivations

Geo-Poli-Cyber™ attacks are significantly different from financially motivated cyber-attacks in damage, scale, magnitude as well as in risk mitigation strategies and solutions.
