Autonomous AI Crossroads Unmitigated Geo-Poli-Cyber™ Attacks, Risks, Threats & Warfare

In 2012, I created the terms Poli-Cyber™ and Geo-Poli-Cyber™ (GPCyber™) after observing a series of politically and geopolitically motivated cyber incidents that I believed represented a fundamentally different category of threat than financially motivated cybercrime.

I talk about this in great detail in my two-time international best-selling book “Survivability”.

My goal was to help national leaders and top business decision makers everywhere better distinguish between financially motivated cyber-attacks and those motivated by political, geopolitical, ideological, extremist, ‘terrorist’, or state sponsored.

I was not interested in scaremongering as many do. I was focused on offering strategic and operational solutions that did not yet exist, to risks most did not yet know of.

This was foundational to the National and Corporate Survivability Strategies I created in 2011 and 2012 and which have continued evolving and improving ever since. In essence I took the best of cyber security strategies, regulatory frameworks and their implementations and appended to them domestic and international politics and geopolitics as additional risk vectors to assess and mitigate individually and collectively.

The aggregate of all these risks is what I and my MLi Group refer to for over a decade and a half as Geo-Poli-Cyber attacks, risks, threats and warfare.

Core to my philosophy from day one was the belief that “If you cannot name the threat, you cannot mitigate that threat”.

AI is Now an Unmitigated Geopolitical Asset Risk Vector

The global race for Artificial Intelligence has evolved far beyond mere commercial competition.

Today, for some countries, AI has become a strategic national asset comparable to nuclear technology, advanced semiconductors, quantum computing, satellite infrastructure, and military capabilities. Nations are investing hundreds of billions of dollars hoping to turn AI into not only a national economic competitive advantage, but a military superiority, intelligence gathering, cyber dominance, for regional or global geopolitical influence.

The competition between the United States, China, Russia, Europe, and emerging technological powers is no longer solely about innovation or stock markets corporate quarterly earning reports —it is about who will WIN NOW, and who will rule & DOMINATE the 21^st CENTURY. Winning means reshaping the current world order and formulating emerging world orders in the political ethos of the victorious side.

AI has become an unprecedented power instrument of national powers.

More critically, AI is now a new unmitigated seismic risk to ALL nations of the world, and no nation, sovereignty and/or economy are immune.

Artificial Intelligence now transcends all of them, creating an Unprecedented Geopolitical Asset Risk Vector that is alarmingly Unmitigated.

Autonomous AI systems can simultaneously operate across multiple domains by analyzing intelligence, conducting cyber operations, influencing public opinion, manipulating financial markets, disrupting critical infrastructure, coordinating drone swarms, and accelerating military decision-making—all at machine speed.

The convergence of geopolitics, cyber operations, artificial intelligence, economics, information warfare, and critical infrastructure protection defines what I have long described as Geo-Poli-Cyber.

This is no longer a theoretical framework.

It is becoming the operational risk reality of the twenty-first century.

Containment Has Become the Weakest Link

Security researchers rely on “sandboxes” to isolate advanced AI systems during testing. However, if an intelligent system can identify weaknesses in its own containment environment, exploit them, and operate beyond its intended boundaries, the traditional assumptions underlying AI safety must be fundamentally reconsidered.

The challenge is no longer simply designing more capable AI.

The challenge is ensuring that increasingly capable systems remain aligned with human intent and operate within enforceable constraints.

As AI capabilities continue to advance, containment may become one of the most difficult engineering and governance problems of our time.

Machine-Speed Conflict Changes Everything

Decision cycles required hours, days, weeks or longer.

Autonomous AI compresses those timelines into seconds.

Future conflicts may involve AI systems capable of:

1. Continuously discovering zero-day vulnerabilities.
2. Conducting millions of cyber reconnaissance operations simultaneously.
3. Coordinating large-scale cyber campaigns.
4. Manipulating information ecosystems.
5. Launching financial disruption campaigns.

This fundamentally alters the nature of deterrence.

Hospitals locked down.

Transportation systems paralyzed.

Artificial Intelligence significantly increases both the speed and precision with which these interconnected systems may be targeted.

In many scenarios, economic paralysis may achieve strategic objectives more effectively than conventional military action.

The Weaponization of Technology & Information

Highly sophisticated AI systems can generate persuasive narratives, realistic synthetic media, multilingual disinformation campaigns, and personalized influence operations capable of shaping public perception on an unprecedented scale.

Political polarization, already intensified through social media, may be further amplified by autonomous systems capable of continuously adapting messaging for different audiences.

The battlefield increasingly includes human perception itself.

Truth becomes contested terrain.

Escalation Without Effective Human Oversight |‘Do no Harm’ & ‘AI for Good’ Impotencies

Human decision-makers historically provide political judgment before military escalation occurs.

Autonomous AI may optimize toward objectives without understanding broader geopolitical or human suffering consequences.

An AI conducting cyber reconnaissance could inadvertently trigger diplomatic crises.

A defensive algorithm could be interpreted as an offensive attack.

Competing autonomous systems could interact in unpredictable ways, creating escalation dynamics that no human explicitly intended or may be able to stop.

Managing machine-to-machine interactions must become one of the defining national security & insecurity challenges to be addressed domestically and internationally now and ASAP, not in the coming months or years.

AI Governance is a Critical Strategic Necessity for Humanity & National Sovereignty Security

How will governments, international organizations, industry leaders, and civil society collectively address and resolve questions such as:

a) How should autonomous AI be certified before deployment?

b) What international norms should govern AI-enabled cyber operations?

c) Who bears responsibility when autonomous systems cause unintended harm?

d) How should strategic AI capabilities be monitored across national borders?

e) What safeguards should exist for critical infrastructure?

f) How should AI systems be prevented from autonomous escalation during geopolitical crises?

These questions cannot be answered by technology companies alone, nor by Private Public Partnerships (PPP) many of which have been hijacked by special interest.

The Survivability Imperative

It is another indicator that humanity is entering an era characterized by unmitigated, interconnected, and cascading Geo-Poli-Cyber attacks, risks, threats, and events, where geopolitical rivalries, cyber conflict, artificial intelligence, economic warfare, critical infrastructure vulnerabilities, climate pressures, terrorism, organized crime, and information warfare increasingly reinforce one another.

No nation, corporation, institution, or community operates in isolation.
But more importantly,

No nation, corporation, institution, or community is immune from this.

None. Zero.

Resilience is no longer sufficient. You cannot be resilient until you have secured your Survivability capability.

Nations and organizations must rethink and upgrade their national and corporate strategies to make them capable of anticipating all kinds of systemic disruption rather than merely responding to isolated incidents.

This requires specialized analysis, assessment, mitigation and integration pertaining to these and other dynamics such as:

2. Political & Geopolitical Intelligence,
3. National Sovereignty Insecurity,
4. AI Governance (Corporate, National & International),
5. Cyber Security Effectiveness.

Survivability is no longer simply about recovering from crises.

In fact, and sadly, I am once again validated for saying for the last decade:

A Defining Moment for Humanity & us — the people of the world.

Artificial Intelligence is rapidly becoming an independent force multiplier across politics, economics, national security, and global affairs.

The convergence of AI with geopolitical competition has ushered in a new era of Geo-Poli-Cyber warfare, where autonomous systems may shape conflicts, influence societies, disrupt economies, and challenge traditional notions of sovereignty and deterrence.

The defining question of our time is no longer whether AI will transform the world—it already is.

The question is whether humanity can establish the governance, ethical leadership, international cooperation, and strategic foresight necessary to ensure that this transformative technology serves civilization rather than destabilizes it.

In an era defined by accelerating complexity and interconnected crises, Survivability is not merely about enduring disruption—it is about enabling businesses, nations, societies, institutions, and people to adapt, govern wisely, and thrive amid persistent uncertainty. The decisions to act or ignore, and the choices made as a subsequence to this event will determine whether artificial intelligence becomes humanity’s greatest strategic advantage or its most consequential catastrophic unmitigated risk.

An Unprecedented Intervention is Needed – Where Will Authentic Global Leadership Come from to Save Humanity from AI Going MORE Rogue?

On face value, it is well documented that the United States Trump Administration believes very limited AI governance is the way to go in order not to stifle innovation, and to continue leveraging the great advantages gained by American companies in this space. The EU prefers a bit more AI governance while other nations around the world would like to see even more oversight.

Only two international organizations come to mind where quality discussions for something tangible on AI Governance can take place sooner than later. The question is which one can fulfil this role while humanity holds its breath?

The United Nations or the International Telecommuting Union (ITU)? 

A- The United Nations? I do not think so. The UN’s ineffectiveness to help bring solutions to many conflicts and political issues around the world in recent years is glaringly visible. If you doubt my words, just look how effective the UN has been on any war, conflict or key topic in the last 5 years.

B- The International Telecommuting Union, (ITU): Possibly, based on its mandate, but ITU today is very challenged while suffering a leadership crisis. I was in Geneva in early July attending and participating in the ITU’s AI for good and WSIS 2026 summits. I was surprised to discover how low morale had been at the organization. I also learnt that tribunal grievance case(s) had been filed by senior ITU employee(s) against ITU’s current Secretary General Doreen Bogdan-Martin. The cases filed pertain to abuse of power, authority of the office, as well as discrimination. I also learnt that conclusions of these cases did take place on July 16, 2026 and that these tribunal conclusions have not exonerated Mrs. Bogdan-Martin. The saga seems to cause a major ongoing problem for the Trump administration maybe without their knowledge. It appears a large number of ITU nation states members are unhappy with Mrs. Bogdan-Martin thinking that because Doreen Bogdan-Martin is an American citizen, she is protected by the Trump administration. When I spoke with some national delegates they expressed to me that they and many other nations are baffled why President Trump and his administration continue to support Mrs. Bogdan-Martin despite her documented abuse of power.
